Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Australia tour drew another round of criticism as the four-day visit moved through Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to Australia for the first time since 2018.

But the latest reaction focused less on the causes and more on how the appearances looked. A new claim said some critics saw the Australia tour as overly polished, tightly managed, and too close to a royal-style photo campaign.

Critics calling Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Australia tour ‘staged rather than sincere,’ per source

As per the RadarOnline report, the backlash centered on the couple’s presentation during the Australia tour. One source familiar with the reaction said, “There’s a growing view among critics that what they’re presenting feels staged rather than sincere.” The same insider added that the body language was being “picked apart as overly theatrical.” It also said some people were calling it “inappropriate” and even “disgusting to watch.” Then came the phrase attached most often to the trip. The source said critics were using “fake royal tour.”

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were making stops focused on mental health, veterans, and community outreach. One of the most visible appearances came at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Photos showed the pair greeting families, crouching with children, and posing with patients. Still, the reception was not one-note. Hospital chief executive Dr. Peter Steer said, “It was a genuinely meaningful visit for our staff and for the young people receiving care.” That gave the Australia tour a clear split. Some praised the result on the ground. Others focused on presentation and optics.

Further criticism came from body-language expert Dr Louise Mahler. She said, “The domestic Goddess act does not cut it with me.” Mahler also described Meghan Markle as “reaching out shyly with half an arm.” Later, she said there was “something dreadfully and shockingly incongruent” in the couple’s appearance. She added that none of the strain people associated with their wider troubles seemed visible, which made it feel “alarmingly unreal.” RadarOnline then summed up the larger problem through another source, who said Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were walking “a fine line between celebrity and service.”
