During CinemaCon 2026, Chris Evans addressed his return as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday after years of speculation. The actor shared that he did not come back lightly. “I said I would only come back if there was a real reason, and in Doomsday, there’s a very real reason why these heroes need Steve Rogers,” he said, confirming that the story itself pulled him back.

The announcement came as part of Marvel’s big presentation, where Kevin Feige and directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo appeared alongside Evans and Robert Downey Jr. The latter is set to play Doctor Doom, and Evans jokingly reacted to that twist by saying, “I don’t like him.” The footage shown also teased Steve Rogers reuniting with Thor, hinting at major team dynamics (via ScreenRant).
